Making connections to art outside our museum walls is a vital part of what we do, whether it’s placing high-quality reproductions of artworks in the community or partnering with area fairs and festivals for art-making. Discover the many ways (and places) your DIA serves the residents of southeast Michigan.
Every Thursday at 1 p.m., we welcome adults 55 and older for a special program including a film, lecture, art-making activity or tour followed by a complimentary coffee and cookie reception. Enjoy a different program every week.
Museum admission is always free for residents of Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties and free bus transportation can be provided for any tri-county group of 25 or more.

Thursdays at the Museum is funded by the Tri-County Millage for residents of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
Inside|Out brings high-quality reproductions of the museum’s collection to communities in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties, and throughout cities in the state of Michigan.

We provide professional development to more than 1,500 educators each year, and free field trips and bus transportation for more than 65,000 students in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.

Presented by trained DIA teaching volunteers, "Behind the Seen" brings insight and engagement about the DIA's collection from the museum to your community. Talks last up to one hour and are available to adult civic and social groups, libraries, senior centers, and other community-accessible locations in metro Detroit.
To schedule a talk, contact Shannon Bawulski at 313.833.7977 or sbawulski@dia.org. BTS talks can be scheduled free for groups in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. For all others there is a $150 fee.
Please note: A screen and a room that can be darkened are required. Lecturers provide projection equipment.
